I am Mrs. Blix and I am very excited to be teaching Outdoor Science this year for our Kindergarten thru 2nd grade students. Some of you may know that I have been with Edison for 7 years. I began as a Paraprofessional at our Raleigh Campus. I moved to teach first grade when Northstar was opened. I taught first grade for 3 years and then moved to 2nd grade for 2 years. I am excited to explore this new opportunity with you and your students. I am also a busy mom of 3 wonderful boys; ages 4, 6 and 8. My husband and I are raising our family in West Duluth. As a family we are always on the go with sports or finding a new place to explore. We spend a lot of time at our cabin on Island Lake, where we swim, fish and explore as many islands as we can. In the winter you can find us outside cross country skiing, snowshoeing or just playing. Our family enjoys the outdoors in all types of weather. If I am not outside you might find me curled up with a book and a cup of coffee. I was born and raised in Duluth and only moved away to attend college at MN State University Moorhead. I have always loved Duluth and all of the amazing opportunities it has to offer. I hope to share some of those things with your students through the year. Some of the fun things we are hoping to do is explore our trails and those of Snowflake as well. We will be hiking with maps and compasses as well as exploring on snowshoes. We will learn about trees, animal tracks, water sheds, shipping, civilizations and pond life. If you ever want more information about what we are doing please feel free to ask.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of sharing these passions with your students.
